Can You Put CBD Oil in a Vape? Three Products, Three Answers

Can you put CBD oil in a vape? Not a sublingual oil. The yes on some pages means a PG/VG vape shot. Three products, and the UK 1mg test for each.

By Staff, CBD Wire

Can you put CBD oil in a vape? Not the oil sold in a dropper bottle to take under the tongue. That is CBD in a carrier oil such as MCT or hemp seed oil, and the retailer pages read for this piece say it is not made to be heated and inhaled. The pages that answer yes mean a different product.

This is an evergreen explainer, not news. Every page cited below was read by this desk on 19 October 2026, and nothing in it is a recommendation to vape.

Why do the pages disagree about CBD oil in a vape?

Search results answer the question both ways. Of the retailer pages read for this post, Evopure, SupremeCBD and Flawless CBD say no. Orange County CBD opens with “Yes, but”, then explains that by CBD oil it means a CBD vape shot: CBD extract in vegetable glycerine and propylene glycol, made to be mixed into nicotine-free e-liquid. The same page says never to use conventional CBD oil in a vape.

So the pages agree more than their headlines suggest. The words “CBD oil” are covering three different products.

Why can’t you vape a sublingual CBD oil?

Evopure says the drops taken under the tongue use carrier oils such as MCT or hemp seed oil, which are not designed to be heated and inhaled. It says oil in the lungs can cause lipoid pneumonia, which it describes as lung inflammation from oily material building up in the small airways, and that oils can also burn or clog a vape coil. Orange County CBD says the MCT base of a conventional oil risks damaging lung tissue when vapourised.

Those are the retailers’ statements, not this desk’s medical advice. Evopure’s page tells anyone with a cough, chest pain or breathlessness after vaping an oil to speak to their GP or call NHS 111.

Mixing does not rescue it. Evopure says oil does not blend properly with PG/VG, and Flawless CBD says oil residues may clog a device.

How do you tell a CBD oil from a CBD e-liquid?

Read the label before the strength. Evopure says e-liquids state that they are for vaping and list PG/VG; if a bottle says to take it under the tongue, do not vape it.

Whether a product can be inhaled is a separate question from how long it keeps, which this site covered in how long CBD oil lasts.

Does UK CBD law treat a vape differently?

Two regimes apply, with different scopes.

The Food Standards Agency’s CBD guidance, updated 28 August 2026 and applying to England and Wales, says CBD extracts, isolates, synthetic CBD and any products they are added to are novel foods, a status confirmed in January 2019, and need authorisation before they can be sold. As of that update, it says no CBD extracts or isolates have been authorised. Only products on its public list as awaiting evidence or validated are proposed to remain on the market pending a decision; this site has looked at how current that list is. The FSA also encourages businesses to reformulate to at or below 10mg of CBD and 70 micrograms of delta-9-THC a day.

That guidance is written for food. In the text this desk read on 19 October 2026, it does not mention vapes, inhalation or e-liquids, so this post does not say whether or how the novel-food regime reaches a CBD vape product.

The Home Office test is not limited by format. Its drug licensing factsheet, updated 3 October 2024, says pure isolated CBD is not controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, but CBD products containing controlled cannabinoids such as THC are Class B unless they meet the exempt product definition in Regulation 2 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2001. All three limbs must be met, one being that no one component part contains more than one milligram of the controlled drug.

The Home Office view is that the definition may apply to products “in any form”, decided case by case, and it says proving the 1mg limb needs testing by a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. A vape liquid does not sit outside that test. The 1mg rule explainer works through it.

Vape-specific product rules are outside this post. No regulator page on e-liquids was read in full for it, so it makes no claim about them.

What should you check before vaping CBD?

Three things, in order: that the label says the product is made for vaping and lists PG/VG; a batch lab report showing its controlled-cannabinoid content; and, for any CBD product sold to swallow, the FSA public list.

Frequently asked questions

Can you mix CBD oil with e-liquid? Not a sublingual CBD oil. Evopure says mixing does not make the oil safe to inhale and that oil does not blend properly with PG/VG. Orange County CBD, which answers yes, means a CBD vape shot made in PG and VG for nicotine-free e-liquid, and says never to vape conventional MCT-based oil. Check the label says it is for vaping.

Can you vape CBD oil? Not the dropper oil sold for use under the tongue. The retailer pages read for this post say its MCT or hemp seed carrier oil is not designed to be heated and inhaled, and Evopure says oil in the lungs can cause lipoid pneumonia. Products sold for vaping are CBD e-liquids or vape shots in a PG and VG base.

What is CBD vape juice? Another name for CBD e-liquid: CBD in a propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine base made to be vaped, either ready-made or as a concentrated vape shot mixed into nicotine-free e-liquid. In the UK, the Home Office says its exempt product test, including the 1mg limit per component part, may apply to products in any form.

This reports retailers’ published statements and UK rules; it is not health advice. The CBD products discussed here are not medicines, and if you take medication or have a lung condition, speak to a healthcare professional before using any CBD product. For adults.
